Offered by the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society, Inc. for a $10.00 donation is a 20-page reprint of the South Pittsburg Hustler newspaper dated, Friday, September 8, 1899 and a 32-page reprint of the 1887 promotional booklet, "South Pittsburg, Tennessee."

The 1899 Hustler reprint consist of a 10-page section that is full of South Pittsburg history and illustrations. Included in the Hustler reprint is another 10-page section dated 2003 that details the history of the Hustler newspaper, South Pittsburg's early history, the Chapel on the Hill (1888 Primitive Baptist Church) and the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society, Inc. This includes several vintages photographs of South Pittsburg.

Next is a reprint of the 1887 promotional booklet "South Pittsburg, Tennessee" that was originally given to prospective land buyers for a sale here in May of that year. The booklet, which measures 8 & 1/2 inches by 5 & 1/2 inches, lays out what the town had to offer in ways of locating industries, education, business, homes, churches and other vital attributes. The booklet has several illustrations included.

South Pittsburg Historic Reprints!
South Pittsburg, Tennessee - Silent Films on DVD.
The Society is offering three different DVDs that show life in South Pittsburg, Tennessee more than fifty years ago. All these rare films were originally shot on old 16mm Kodak movie film. They have now been digitally restored and placed on DVD for your viewing enjoyment.  Here's what you get:

South Pittsburg, Tennessee - Your Town on Parade - 1941

Shot in November 1941, this half-hour film is partly in color, which, at the time, was not readily available. The film shows various scenes around town including the downtown, businesses, churches, schools and people just to name a few.

South Pittsburg, Tennessee - A Day in Our School!

This DVD contains a series of three color films shot at the South Pittsburg Elementary School in 1954, October 1955 and March 1961. These are a unique look into early grade school education in this small Tennessee town.  Film features faculty, students, plays, recess, school prayer and many scenes of interest.

The last DVD offered was originally shot in February 1954. It shows what real life was like in South Pittsburg at that time. Scenes include the downtown, businesses, churches, schools, people and much more.
